Domestic Related Assault

A 42 year old Cobourg man was arrested on November 6th after Port Hope Police commenced an investigation into an assault complaint. It is alleged the male was at a Port Hope residence that is owed by the victim in this matter. It is alleged the two, who have been in a brief relationship, became involved in an argument that later turned physical.  The accused is alleged to have thrown the victim around the residence and further prevented her from leaving. The victim eventually was able to leave and contacted Police.  The man later turned himself into Police and is charged with assault and forcible confinement.

Break and Enter.

A Walton street resident contacted Port Hope Police on the 8th of November to report her residence was entered overnight.  Entry was gained from the back door that is believed to have been left unlocked.  The homeowner’s winter coat was noted to be missing as well as a purse that was last seen just inside the rear door area.  Forensic examination was conducted at the residence by Police.  Police are continuing the investigation but are advising citizens to make sure doors remain locked at night in order to reduce the opportunity of people entering unlawfully.
