Media Release - November 27, 2025
On November 26, 2025, Port Hope Police responded to a shoplifting incident at a local pharmacy. Officers located the suspect vehicle on Highway 401 and conducted a traffic stop.
Two adult males were arrested. One was charged with Theft Under $5,000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and was held for a bail hearing due to existing court conditions. The second male was charged with Theft Under $5,000 and released on conditions.
The investigation remains ongoing.
The Port Hope Police Service is currently experiencing some network issues affecting our internal file
management systems and our background check services. Our front-line support, including dispatch
and our 9-1-1 system for emergency calls, have not been affected. Our telephone line for non-urgent
concerns (905) 885-8123 also remains operational. The safety and security of the citizens of Port
Hope remain our number one priority.
We are thoroughly investigating the issue and are working towards restoring our systems as quickly as
possible. We will provide additional updates when available.
