Officers arrested a male party on November 16th, 2021 at around 7:22 pm, after observing his vehicle pull out from a local establishment with no tail lights on. The vehicle was observed crossing the centre line as the operator drove north on Ontario Street, Port Hope, Ontario. As a result a traffic stop was conducted . The male had a strong odour of alcohol emitting from his breath when the officers spoke to him. The operator of the vehicle , Daniel Stokaliuk of Thunder Bay, Ontario was arrested for impaired driving.
Mr. Stokaliuk was taken back to the Port Hope Police Service, however refused to comply with the breath demand. As as a result Stokaliuk was charged with failure or refusal to comply with demand.
The accused was released on an appearance notice to appear in court in December, 2021 to answer to the charge of impaired driving- alcohol and drugs, and failure or refusal to comply with demand.
Theft charges for mother and son
On November 9th, 2021 a mother and her son were shopping at a local grocery store, in Port Hope, Ontario . The two were standing behind a male party who had accidently left his wallet on the cash register and left the store without it. The mother and son team walked up to the cash register and took the wallet. The two made no attempt to locate the victim/owner of the wallet. The couple were captured on video quickly leaving the store once they had the wallet in their possession. The wallet contained $800.00 cash.
Port Hope Police officers identified the parties as Stephanie Mineault, of Cobourg, Ontario and her son, Steven Mineault of Port Hope, Ontario. Both Stephanie and Steven Mineault were charged with theft under on November 15th, 2021. The two were released on an appearance notice and will appear in court in early December, 2021 to answer tot the charge.
