Media Release - November 27, 2025
On November 26, 2025, Port Hope Police responded to a shoplifting incident at a local pharmacy. Officers located the suspect vehicle on Highway 401 and conducted a traffic stop.
Two adult males were arrested. One was charged with Theft Under $5,000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and was held for a bail hearing due to existing court conditions. The second male was charged with Theft Under $5,000 and released on conditions.
The investigation remains ongoing.

Drugs seized during a Traffic Stop
One man charged after 134 grams of marihuana was seized on Saturday February 29th , 2020 as a result of a routine traffic stop on Cavan Street, Port Hope Ontario. When speaking to the driver the police officer detected a strong smell of fresh marihuana coming from within the vehicle. The driver, Jordan Bassaragh age 23 from the Scarborough Ontario area was charged with Possessing cannabis for the purpose of selling, Possession of illicit cannabis and Possession over 30 grams dried cannabis in a public place. Mr. Bassaragh will appear in Cobourg Court on March 25th, 2020 to answer to the charges
