Media Release - November 27, 2025

On November 26, 2025, Port Hope Police responded to a shoplifting incident at a local pharmacy. Officers located the suspect vehicle on Highway 401 and conducted a traffic stop.

Two adult males were arrested. One was charged with Theft Under $5,000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and was held for a bail hearing due to existing court conditions. The second male was charged with Theft Under $5,000 and released on conditions.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Media Release - January 12, 2024

 

Unwanted Person

A Port Hope male was arrested and charged with being intoxicated in a public place after an incident that occurred on January 5, 2023.

Port Hope Police were called to a local business with reports of an intoxicated male causing a disturbance with staff. When police arrived, they were met by the male in the front entrance of the business with an alcoholic beverage in his hand. The male went out to the street to meet the officers and was verbally abusive and approached in an aggressive manner. The male was subsequently arrested and charged with being intoxicated in a public place.

 

Mischief

A Port Hope female was charged with 8 counts of mischief for incidents that took place between December 30 and 31, 2023.

The accused lives in a shared complex and has been causing disturbances with neighbours, which has resulted in multiple complaints to police. As a result, she was charged with:

  • Mischief 430 (1) obstructs, or interferes with any person in the lawful use, enjoyment, or operation of property X 8

The female has been released on an officer in charge undertaking with conditions. She will appear in court in February 2024 to answer to the charges.

 

R.I.D.E Program Statistics

Port Hope Police Service conducted 6 R.I.D.E Programs in the month of December. There were over 3542 vehicles checked during these programs. There were 6 warnings for minor traffic violations and no impaired drivers during the R.I.D.E Programs.
