Shoplifting Baby Formula

On Tuesday, December 12th, 2023, at 3:54 p.m. a female youth was in the company of two unidentified males inside Shoppers Drug Mart situated at Jocelyn Street, Port Hope. The three parties exited a black Ford Explorer parked on the lot adjacent to the pharmacy. One of the unidentified males exited the pharmacy carrying two stolen cases of Enfamil A plus Premium Baby Formula. The Female youth exited the pharmacy pulling a cart on wheels with unknown unpaid merchandise.

A short time later a male suspect was observed by police leaving the area of black Ford Explorer on foot, but police were unable to arrest him. The vehicle was left parked on the north side of Tim Hortons situated at 181 Toronto Road, Port Hope. The female youth was located a short distance from the Ford Explorer and was taken into custody. Police conducted further investigation and located several cases of baby formula within the vehicle.

The Port Hope Police are advising they have seen a rise in crimes targeting retail spaces and some of it appears to be organized.

Assault with a weapon

A Port Hope male was arrested and charged with assault after threatening his ex-girlfriend with a pipe.

Police were dispatched to a Phillips Rd address on December 14, 2023, in relation to a person with a weapon. Upon arrival, police learned that the accused had a metal pipe up the sleeve of his shirt and was threatening to beat his ex-girlfriend with it if she left the residence. As a result, the male was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon. He will appear in court on December 20, 2023

 

Assault

A Port Hope female was arrested and charged with assault after she called police regarding a dispute she was having with her tenant.

On December 16, 2023, police arrived at the accused’s residence where she was having an altercation with her tenant.  As police attempted to deescalate the situation, the accused shoved the victim, causing the victim to fall over. The accused was released on an undertaking and will appear in court on January 24th, 2024.
