Media Release - September 29, 2023

 

Impaired Driver

On the 28th of September 2023, Port Hope Police were on patrol in the area of John Street, when they initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle with expired validation. Further investigation led the officer to demand a breath sample from the driver.  The driver registered “fail” and was transported to the Port Hope Police Station for further testing.  A 68-year-old Port Hope male was charged with:

  1. Operation While Impaired- Over 80- CC 320.14 (1)(b)
  2. Drive Motor Vehicle- No Currently validated Permit- Highway Traffic Act

The male was also issued a 90-day Administrative Driver’s License Suspension and his vehicle was impounded for 7 days. He will appear in Cobourg court on the 11th of October 2023.
