Theft of Property

On August 31, 2023, a fisherman reported his backpack had been stolen while fishing along the Ganaraska River on Mill Street. As a result, a 55-year-old local male, and a 30-year-old female from Bewdley were arrested for the theft.

The male also had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for the same charges.

The male party was charged with:

  • Theft Under $5,000
  • Adult Possession of Property Obtained by Crime               
  • Adult Possession of a Credit Card
  • Adult Fail to Comply with a Probation Order
  • Adult Use of Credit Card x6

The accused male was held in custody.

The female party was charged with:

  • Adult Possession of Property Obtained by Crime
  • Adult Possession of a Credit Card
  • Adult Use of Credit Card x6

The accused female was released on an Officer in Charge Undertaking.

 

Outstanding Warrant

In the afternoon of August 31, 2023, a 54-year-old male from Toronto was arrested on an outstanding warrant for assault with the York Regional Police Service. The male was in the Municipality to fish when police were alerted by the Ministry of Natural Resources.  The accused was turned over to the York Regional Police Service.

 

Theft from Business

In the evening of August 31, 2023, Durham Regional Police arrested two parties that were wanted by the Port Hope Police Service on outstanding warrants for theft from a local Port Hope business on August 19, 2023.  On the day of the theft, the accused parties attended a local business and attempted to purchase products with a credit card. After the card was declined the two grabbed the bag of merchandise and ran out of the store. As a result, the warrants were issued.  The two parties, both from Oshawa, were charged with:

  • Adult Use of a Credit Card
  • The two parties were released on an Officer in Charge Undertaking with conditions
