Media Release - November 27, 2025
On November 26, 2025, Port Hope Police responded to a shoplifting incident at a local pharmacy. Officers located the suspect vehicle on Highway 401 and conducted a traffic stop.
Two adult males were arrested. One was charged with Theft Under $5,000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and was held for a bail hearing due to existing court conditions. The second male was charged with Theft Under $5,000 and released on conditions.
The investigation remains ongoing.

Three Arrests made in Drug Investigation and Search Warrant
On the 1st of March 2021, as part of ongoing investigations and enforcement targeting illegal drug activity affecting our community, Police executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant at a Phillips Road apartment in Port Hope.
Members of Port Hope Criminal Investigation Bureau, Cobourg Criminal Investigation Bureau, Port Hope Police Uniform and Cobourg Police Uniform Patrol were involved in the arrest of one adult male and two adult females for possession of drugs and possession of drugs for the purpose of trafficking.
As a result of the investigation and a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act Search Warrant, Police seized a small amount of Cocaine, Crack Cocaine, Fentanyl and a Prohibited Conductive Energy Weapon (Taser).
Katlyn Atkinson, 31 years of Port Hope is charged with:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine – contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
- Possession of a Prohibited Device – Taser – contrary to section 92(2) of the Criminal Code
Carly Magee, 34 years of Port Hope is charged with:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Cocaine – contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
Michel Downey 27 years of Harwood is charged with:
- Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl – contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act
All three were released on an Undertaking with conditions and are to appear in court in March 2022.
