Media Release - December 8, 2022

 

R.I.D.E Programs

Port Hope Police continue to conduct R.I.D.E programs throughout the year.  Police remind everyone to ensure that you plan accordingly and have a safe ride home during the holiday season.  If you have been drinking or are under the influence of a drug, Do Not Drive!  If you see or suspect Impaired driving, please call the Port Hope Police Service at 905-885-8123 or 9-1-1.

 

Failure or refusal to comply with demand

On the 7th of December 2022, at approximately 10:21pm, Port Hope Police were called to report a possible impaired driver.  Police obtained information from the complainant regarding the driver and description of the vehicle.  Police observed vehicle travelling E/NB on Jocelyn Street.  Police conducted a traffic stop at Hwy 28 north of the 401.  

The driver was observed to have glossy eyes, and an odour of an alcoholic beverage was detected.  Police demanded the driver provide a suitable sample into a Roadside Screening Device.  The 26-year-old Cobourg male refused to provide a sample and was charged and released.  He will appear in Cobourg court December 21, 2022.
