Media Release - October 23, 2023

 

Impaired Driver

A Cobourg resident is facing drug charges after police responded to a call for a male slumped over the steering wheel of a parked vehicle on Thursday, October 19 at 7:25am. When officers attended the vehicle which was in the area of Hamilton Road and Ward Street in Port Hope, it took several attempts to wake the driver. As a result of an investigation, a 19-year-old male was arrested and charged with the following:

  • Operation while impaired - blood drug concentration
  • Possession of a Schedule III substance for the purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Opioid (other than heroin)
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Methylenedioxyamphetamine (Ecstasy)
  • Possession of a Schedule III Substance x2
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Opioid (other than heroin)
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance – Methamphetamine
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance- Cocaine     
  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance - Opioid (other than heroin)

The male was later released and will answer to his charges at a later court date.

If you suspect an impaired driver, please call 911. Get the vehicle details such as description and license plate number. If the vehicle is mobile, please give updates to our dispatch or stay on the line with them.
