Media Release - November 27, 2025

On November 26, 2025, Port Hope Police responded to a shoplifting incident at a local pharmacy. Officers located the suspect vehicle on Highway 401 and conducted a traffic stop.

Two adult males were arrested. One was charged with Theft Under $5,000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and was held for a bail hearing due to existing court conditions. The second male was charged with Theft Under $5,000 and released on conditions.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Arrest Made Following Domestic Assault Investigation

 

On Thursday, October 16, 2025, members of the Port Hope Police Service were dispatched to a residence in response to a report of a domestic-related assault.

Through investigation, officers determined that a male had allegedly assaulted a youth during a domestic dispute. The male suspect was subsequently located by police and placed under arrest without incident.

A 33-year-old Port Hope male has been charged with Assault and Spousal Assault. He was released on an Undertaking with conditions and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in December 2025.

The Port Hope Police Service reminds members of the community that resources and supports are available for those affected by domestic violence. Anyone in need of assistance is encouraged to contact police or a local support agency.
