Impaired Driver Arrested After Wrong-Way Traffic Stop

Port Hope Police have charged a driver with impaired operation following a traffic stop on John Street.

On Friday, February 14, 2025, at approximately 11:55 p.m., an officer on patrol observed a vehicle traveling the wrong way on the one-way street at a high rate of speed. The officer conducted a traffic stop and observed signs of impairment from the driver. A roadside test resulted in a fail, and the driver was placed under arrest. Further testing at the Cobourg Police Service confirmed blood alcohol levels exceeding the legal limit.

The driver was released on an Appearance Notice with a scheduled court date of February 26, 2025. 

 

Port Hope Police Arrest Man for Mischief Following Domestic Dispute

On February 23, 2025, Port Hope Police responded to a residence on Young Street to assist with a civil matter regarding the retrieval of personal belongings. During the process, officers were alerted to a missing internet modem, leading to an investigation.

Police formed grounds to believe the individual involved had taken the modem, disrupting internet access relied upon by the household. When officers attempted to arrest the suspect at a separate residence, he initially resisted but was taken into custody after a brief struggle. The modem was later recovered at the original location.

The individual was charged with mischief and released on an undertaking with conditions. He is scheduled to appear in court on April 2, 2025.

 

Port Hope Police Charge Woman with Mischief and Probation Violation

On February 23, 2025, at approximately 8:49 p.m., Port Hope Police responded to a residence on Cavan Street regarding an unwanted individual. Officers attended and assisted in removing a female from the property, advising her that she was trespassing and no longer welcome.

Shortly after, at 10:02 p.m., police were called back to the same residence after the individual returned and allegedly broke a window while attempting to re-enter. Officers located and arrested the individual nearby for mischief and failure to comply with a probation order. She was released on an undertaking with conditions.
