Media Release - November 27, 2025
On November 26, 2025, Port Hope Police responded to a shoplifting incident at a local pharmacy. Officers located the suspect vehicle on Highway 401 and conducted a traffic stop.
Two adult males were arrested. One was charged with Theft Under $5,000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and was held for a bail hearing due to existing court conditions. The second male was charged with Theft Under $5,000 and released on conditions.
The investigation remains ongoing.

Barricaded Person
A 42-year old Port Hope male was apprehended after a call to police for a barricaded person.
At approximately 1:30pm on June 10, 2024, police received a call for a person barricaded with a possible weapon, inside a residence on Jiggins Crescent in Port Hope. Durham Regional Police assisted with a tactical team, negotiators and a trained paramedic. At approximately 7:00pm, the male was safely taken into custody.
Weapons Charge
A 37-year-old Ajax male has been charged with Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose after he was arrested at gunpoint in downtown Port Hope.
On June 10, 2024, police were called to a local restaurant for a male brandishing a knife. The male was located a short distance away from the establishment and was arrested at gunpoint. The male is to appear in court on August 14, 2024
