Media Release 16 January 2018 Assault charges laid/Driver arrested for impaired after an accident.

Man charged with assault

A 25 year old Port Hope man is charged with assault after a complaint was filed concerning a toddler that was observed with a number of bruises.  Port Hope Police and the Children Aid Society began the investigation on the14th of January. It is alleged the child got the injuries while he was in the care of this man described as the child’s father.  The man was arrested on the 15th of January 2018. He appears in court in February.

Man charged in connection with a domestic incident.

A 48 year old Port Hope man is facing charges after Port Hope Police responded to a west end residence after a 911 call was made by a person described as the man’s daughter.  On the 15th of January shortly after 8:00am Police arrived on scene and located the man and a woman believed to be the man’s wife involved in an altercation in the basement area.  The man was quickly taken into custody.  It is alleged the man assaulted his daughter and his wife during an argument. He then began damaging the interior of the house. He is charged with 2 counts of assault and 1 count of mischief.  He was held in custody pending a show cause hearing.

Woman charged with impaired offences after collision.

A 27 year old Port Hope woman is facing impaired charges after Port Hope Police were dispatched to a collision in the Hope Street north area. After 3:00pm the 15th of January Police commenced an investigation into the single motor vehicle collision.  It is believed the woman was driving when she collided into a parked vehicle.  The Police officer commenced an investigation into the woman’s state of sobriety and took her into custody.  She is charged with care and control of a motor vehicle while her blood alcohol exceeded 80mg.  There were no injuries reported as a result of the accident the woman’s vehicle was towed from the scene.
