Media Release - November 27, 2025

On November 26, 2025, Port Hope Police responded to a shoplifting incident at a local pharmacy. Officers located the suspect vehicle on Highway 401 and conducted a traffic stop.

Two adult males were arrested. One was charged with Theft Under $5,000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and was held for a bail hearing due to existing court conditions. The second male was charged with Theft Under $5,000 and released on conditions.

The investigation remains ongoing.

Robbery Royal Bank of Canada 1 Jane Street Port Hope

 

On the 13th of February 2018 at just before 10:00am a lone male entered the Royal Bank of Canada located at 1 Jane Street Port Hope and approached a teller. He produced a note and indicated it was a robbery. He received an undisclosed amount of money and left the bank last seen walking eastbound towards the rear parking lot. No weapon was seen.

He is described as male Caucasian 6 feet tall wearing a red toque with dark sunglasses, green jacket and a yellow shirt.  Port Hope Police officers were on scene in minutes of the call and searched the area. Durham Regional Police K-9 services attended the scene and assisted in the search for the suspect. Port Hope Police are not sure if a vehicle was involved but are checking surrounding surveillance cameras.

There were no physical injuries to staff members or other persons in the bank. The bank was closed for the preliminary investigation and will be closed for the remainder of the day.  Please see image of suspect attached to this release.
