Media Release March 6th 2019

A 37 year old Port Hope man was arrested on the 28th of February after Police determined he was in breach of an officer in charge undertaking. Port Hope Police received information that the man was associating with and was at the residence of a person he was ordered to be away from.  The order came as a result of him being charged previously in a domestic incident.  The man turned himself in later to Police and is charged with failing to abide with a condition of an officer in charge undertaking. He appears in court in April.

A 37 year old Port Hope man is charged with Mischief after Port Hope Police responded to a disturbance in the Municipality’s east end. On March 1st 2019 shortly after 9:00am Police commenced and investigation into the disturbance between two people one of them identified as a tenant.  An argument ensued which became heated after which the tenant allegedly started throwing furniture and emptying drawers on the floor. When Police arrived at the scene the man had left but later turned himself in.  Benjamin LeClair is charged with mischief obstruction or interfering with the lawful enjoyment of property. He appears in court in April.

In the early morning hours of the 6th of March members of the Port Hope Police Criminal Investigations Unit supported by Durham Regional Police Tactical Unit executed a warrant at a 50 Cavan Apartment Unit as a result of an illegal weapons investigation. Port Hope Police believed a person of interest was within the unit who was in possession of a restricted weapon.  Once inside it was determined the person of interest had left.  Police are continuing the investigation. Port Hope Police remind residents that Snow Routes are still in effect until March 15th 2019.  Residents are asked to not park in snow route areas from 2:00am-7:00am daily. The fine is $25.00.
