Possession of a Controlled Substance/ Warrant - Fail to Appear Court

On February 18, 2023, Port Hope Police responded to an address on Barrett Street regarding a suspicious male that was observed crawling around on the ground swinging his arms.  On arrival police located a male that is known to police.  A CPIC check on the male revealed that he was wanted for failing to attend court.  The male was arrested without incident.  While police were searching the 43-year-old Port Hope male, they located a bag with a white substance believed to be crystal meth.  He was held in custody pending a bail hearing on February 19, 2023.

 

Attempt Break and Enter

On February 19, 2023, Port Hope Police attended a business on Toronto Road regarding an alarm for a glass break.  On arrival at approximately 5:08 am police observed the front door of the business was smashed.  A vehicle was last seen leaving the business N/B on Toronto Road with the license plate covered.  Anyone with information is asked to contact Port Hope Police or call Crime stoppers.

 

Theft from Vehicle

On February 19, 2023, Port Hope Police responded to an address on Charles Street regarding a theft from vehicle.  Police learned that the drivers side window trim had been removed.  Once inside the vehicle suspects rummaged through the glove box and then stole 3 rolls of dimes and $300 dollars’ worth of construction clothing.

 

Possession of a Controlled Substance

On February 19, 2023, Port Hope Police received a call from the OPP regarding a vehicle that was weaving across lanes on the 401.  A witness observed the vehicle to exit the 401 at Toronto Road, Port Hope.  Police attended the area and located the vehicle that had been given out for observation in the Toronto Road carpool lot.  Police approached the parked vehicle and spoke to the lone male driver.  Officers observed open cannabis readily accessible to the driver in the center console.  Police conducted further investigation and located a small baggie with a white powdery substance (believed to be cocaine).  A 20-year old Port Hope male was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance.  He will appear in court on March 29, 2023.
