Intimate Partner Assault 

 

A local Port Hope man has been charged with assault on his girlfriend. Port Hope Police were called to the residence on Friday, June 4, 2021 at around 4:11 pm after the victim dialed 911. When police arrived the distraught victim was holding a large section of her hair that had been pulled out of her head during a very aggressive argument.  The accused was arrested and later released on an undertaking with conditions. The accused was charged with assault with a weapon x3 and assault. The accused  will appear in court on July 7, 2021 to answer to the charges. 

On June 6, 2021 Jason Coombs was arrested for failing to comply with an undertaking . Coombs had been previously charged and had conditions to have no communication directly or indirectly with the victim. Coombs was located on the property of the victim from the previous charge and as a result was arrested for fail to comply with an undertaking. Coombs will appear in court in July to answer to the charge. 

On Saturday, June 5, 2021 around 8:33 am Port Hope Police were alerted by people in the community that a seven foot albino boa constrictor had been reported missing from a Greenwood Tower residence. According to the owner the snake is very domesticated, partially blind and poses no threat to the public. Port Hope Fire Department assisted by doing a thorough scan using a heat detector of the apartment and the walls with negative results.  If you come across the snake please call police.
