Media Release - November 27, 2025
On November 26, 2025, Port Hope Police responded to a shoplifting incident at a local pharmacy. Officers located the suspect vehicle on Highway 401 and conducted a traffic stop.
Two adult males were arrested. One was charged with Theft Under $5,000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime and was held for a bail hearing due to existing court conditions. The second male was charged with Theft Under $5,000 and released on conditions.
The investigation remains ongoing.
Impaired Driving
In the early hours on Friday morning April 23, 2021 as a result of a vehicle driving aggressively and hitting the curb on Ward Street, Port Hope Police conducted a traffic stop to check on the driver. After a brief conversation police determined the driver was impaired. As a result Spencer Smith, age 31 of Port Hope, Ontario was arrested. Smith was released later Friday morning on an undertaking to appear in court on May 26, 2021. Smith was charged with operation while impaired - alcohol, failure or refusal to comply with a demand, and driving while under suspension.
The Port Hope Police Service encourages the public to report suspected impaired driving by calling 911.
