Breach of Undertaking

A 39 year old Brampton male was arrested on the 8th of August as a result of him being found in violation of a release order. At 5:00pm Police received a complaint of a male lying under the train trestle on Mill Street. Police attended the area and located the man. Investigation revealed he was out on bail awaiting disposition on charges and was found to be not abiding by a condition of his release. Charged is Mandeep Jhinjer.

Sexual Assault

A 38 year old Port Hope man is facing charges after Port Hope Police received a complaint about a historical sexual assault. The incidents are alleged to have occurred in 2019 involving this man and the daughter of a person he was in a relationship with. A sexual Assault investigator with PHPS was assigned to the case and commenced an investigation resulting in the arrest of the man on the 10th of August 2020. He is charged with 3 counts of sexual interference and three counts of sexual assault. No names will be released to protect the identity of the victim and witnesses. The man appears in court in October.

Break and Enter

Port Hope Police Officers are investigating a break and enter that occurred at Beatrice Strong School Day Care Center. On the 10th of August shortly after 6:00am staff attending for work noted that the center had been broken into and items removed. Stolen were walky-talkies, apple IPads, cellular phone and a small amount of currency. It is believed the break in occurred over the weekend some time. Criminal Harassment charges laid by Port Hope Police.

A 33 year old Cambridge man is charged with criminal harassment and breach of probation. On the 9th of August the man was with the victim and her children at the victim’s apartment in Central Port Hope when the man became upset after receiving a phone call earlier in the week. He began yelling at the victim and her children berating them. As they were trying to leave the apartment the man made several threatening gestures towards the family. They were forced leave the apartment and go to another location after which the man repeatedly phoned and text the victim over 57 times. He was arrested on the 13th of August at the same apartment he was visiting and is facing charges of 2 counts of criminal harassment and 1 count of breach of probation. No names will be released to protect the identity of the witnesses and victim who were allowed to return to their apartment.
