Impaired Operation

A 26 year old Port Hope woman is charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle after Port Hope Police received a complaint of erratic driving. On the 2nd of August 2019 shortly after 8:30pm a man was driving eastbound on Jocelyn St in the area of the Ganaraska River. The man slowed his vehicle for construction when a vehicle passed him at a high rate of speed. The complainant followed this vehicle as it continued south on Hope Street North. The man caught up to the driver and positioned his vehicle in front the vehicle as he exited his vehicle the female driver drove into his vehicle and then drove away. The driver again located the vehicle on Ward Street parked in the driveway. When he positioned the vehicle again the drivers reversed on to the boulevard and drove across the sidewalk back on the roadway and proceeded westbound turning south on Hope St. Witnesses then observed the vehicle southbound on Hope Street hitting a utility pole on the corner of Hope and Frances Street as the driver attempted a turn and then continued on.  Police were called and officers attended the area. The vehicle and driver was located on Elgin Street. Police commenced and investigation into the sobriety of the driver resulting in her arrest.  Madison Chard is accused over impaired operation of a motor vehicle, impaired operation with excess blood concentration, dangerous driving and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.  She appears in court later in August.

Break Enter and Theft

Port Hope Police are investigating two break and enters occurring at the same premise in a span of 3 days. On the 4th and 7th of August someone broke into the Crawford’s Café located at Mill Street and Madison Street.  Once inside a small amount of alcohol was taken no other items were taken. Face Book Fraud Warning

Port Hope Police are warning residents who utilize social media to be wary of the following scam.  Fraudsters will personate Facebook contacts and email under their email address requesting money for emergency situations.  The email where to send money is usually different then the Contact’s email.  If an email as previous described is received Police warn Face Book users not to send the money and to get in touch with the original Contact and tell them about the email.
