Theft of Motor Vehicles (Dodge Trucks)

On Friday the November 25th 2022, Port Hope Police Service received a call for a suspicious male in Port Hope. The male was observed walking around a vehicle in the complainant’s driveway and up to the front door of the residence with what Police believe to be a sophisticated scanning device contained in a backpack. Police believe the male used this device to read vehicle fobs located within the victim’s residence to then steal vehicles.  Police believe there were more than one person(s) involved as 3 Dodge pick-ups trucks were stolen throughout the night/early morning hours in the Municipality of Port Hope. These thefts occurred between the hours of 4:15 – 7:35am.

Police are asking the assistance from the public to help them investigate these thefts. Investigators are requesting anyone who has captured these individuals on home security cameras to contact the Port Hope Police Service.

Police are advising the public to keep any key fobs (including spare fobs) away from exterior walls or entry doors to their homes.
