Family Dispute leads to Weapon Charges

Port Hope Police responded to a family dispute which had been reported by a neighbour on November 19, 2021.

The neighbour reported the 18 year old had a gun in his possession.

Upon police investigation it was learned the 18 year old male was upset with his aunt over text messages.

A pushing match began between the aunt and the 18 year old, eventually causing the boy's grandfather to step in.

Shortly after the male went downstairs and grabbed a loaded BB gun and pointed it at his grandfather. When the aunt stepped in to help, the accused turned and pointed the BB gun toward her.

The male went back into the residence and tried to engage his grandmother into a fight.

The accused left prior to police arrival.

Shortly after the male was located and arrested on McCaul Street, Port Hope Ontario. In his possession were two replica Glock BB guns, both loaded, one container of coated Steel BBs as well as 85 grams of marihuana.

The accused was  charged with assault with a weapon x 2, mischief under $5000.00, and possession of over 30g dried cannabis in a pubic place.

The accused was released on an undertaking with conditions. He is to appear in court in December to answer to the charges.

The name of the accused is not being released to protect the victims.
