Media Release 30th December 2019

 

A 55 year old Port Hope man is charged with sexual assault after a complaint was received by a 21 year old woman earlier in November 2019. The assault is said to have occurred in December 2018. The man was known to the woman as an acquaintance.  It is alleged the assault occurred while she was visiting at his residence for a social evening.  The man was arrested on the 17th of December after police completed the investigation.  No names will be released to protect the identification of the victim.

A 68 year old Port Hope man is charged with theft under $5000.00 in connection with a theft from the Port Hope LCBO. On November 23rd shortly after 1pm it is believed the man stole some spirits after concealing it on his person. Police commenced an investigation and was able to identify the culprit observed on CCTV.  On the 27th of December the investigating officer observed the same person sitting outside of the Comfort Inn. He was subsequently taken into custody and later released. Ronald Leslie Alton is charged and will appear in court in January 2020

A 35 year old Port Hope man is facing a charge of assault after Port Hope Police were called  to a down town residence shortly after 11:30am on December 17th. A female complainant reported that she was assaulted during an argument. The man fled the apartment after the incident.  Police located him down town and took him into custody. He is charged with assault and breaching his probation order. He will appear in court in January 2020. No names will be released in order to protect the victim’s identity.

A 32 year old Cobourg man is charged with assault and mischief after an incident occurred on the 22 of December.  Before noon, the man attended his estranged wife’s residence and when she opened the door he pushed her. She was able to get the door shut. The man then tried to get into the residence damaging a window in the process.  He further threw items over the victim’s vehicle and left. Port Hope Police officers commenced an investigation into the allegations. The accused turned himself into officers later in the day.  He appears in court in January 2020. No names will be released.

A 42 year old man is charged with assaulting another man at a residence on Walton St.  On December 24th, shortly after 10:00pm the victim was with some other friends when the accused arrived at the residence and engaged in a verbal argument with the victim. The argument became heated and the accused male punched the victim in the face. The victim left the residence with some other friends. The matter was reported to Port Hope Police on the 25th of December. The accused was located and arrested for assault. Jason Brimblecombe is charged and he appears in court at the end of January 2020.
