Break and Enter.

Port Hope Police are investigating a break and enter reported on the 20th of September. A woman who lives in the Hope St North area reported at about 9:00am she left her house to do an errand and when she returned she noted the back door open. She went inside and surprised a man who was in the basement. The man fled the area. Police attended and checked the area for the man. He is described as male 6 foot tall wearing grey sweat shirt and blue jeans said to be worn out.  It is believed the man entered the residence through an unlocked door. Port Hope Police remind residents to lock their doors when they leave the residence. Police also feel it is a good idea to lock the doors when in the back yard and away from monitoring front entrances.  Nothing was reported missing from this incident.
