Missing Person Safely Located

On April 3, 2025, Port Hope Police Service responded to a report of a missing person after an individual failed to return home from a walk with her dog. The woman, who suffers from dementia, was last seen at approximately 11:00 a.m., and concerns were raised when she had not returned by 3:30 p.m.

The missing person was in contact via cellphone and provided limited details about her surroundings, describing a valley full of fallen trees near a busy highway. Officers quickly initiated a search, and through continued communication, her approximate location was determined to be in a rural area near Highway 401.

With the assistance of the Ontario Provincial Police (Northumberland Detachment) and members of OCEAP (Ontario Community Emergency Assistance Program), the woman was safely located in a farmer’s field off Brand Road. She was assessed by EMS and found to be in good health. She was then returned home safely.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to Northumberland OPP and OCEAP for their swift and professional assistance during the search and recovery effort.
