Replica Grenade Found
On June 20, 2024, workers at the Highland Drive remediation site came across a grenade that was unknown to be activated or deactivated.
Police requested the assistance of members from Trenton Air Base who were able to determine it was a replica. During this time residents were asked to avoid the immediate area and a Hold and Secure was put in place by schools in the immediate vicinity.
Impaired Driver
A 21-year-old Port Hope female was charged with impaired driving after police were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Jocelyn Street.
At 12:16am on June 17, 2024, an area resident was woken by the sound of a loud noise outside her residence. The complainant observed a vehicle in the ditch and requested Police attend.
As a result of an investigation, the female was charged with the following:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The female also received a 90-day license suspension and a 7-day vehicle impoundment. She is to appear in court on July 3, 2024, to answer to her charges.
Impaired Driver
A 58-year-old Port Hope female was arrested and charged with impaired driving after an anonymous person alerted police that the female had been drinking alcohol and proceeded to get in her vehicle and drive.
Port Hope officers were alerted and when the vehicle was spotted, the driver failed to stop for emergency lights and sirens. The vehicle eventually came to a stop at the registered owner’s residence on Hope Street North.
As a result of an investigation, it was determined that the female was impaired by alcohol. She was charged with the following:
- Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
- Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The female was scheduled a court date of August 14, 2024.
