Impaired Driving

On Saturday night March 19, 2022  around 8:20 pm Port Hope Police responded to a single vehicle accident located in the area of John Street and Dorset Street, Port Hope, Ontario.  A single vehicle struck the median and knocked down a road sign. When police arrived on scene the driver of the motor vehicle had left the scene. Shortly after police received information of a male walking along John Street.  Through investigation it was determined the male on foot was the driver of the vehicle.  The male was arrested for operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs, and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). The accused is a 63-year-old male who is from the Port Hope . The accused will appear in court at the end of March to answer to the charges.

 

Impaired Driver

On Sunday morning March 20, 2022 around 1:555 am while on general patrol  Port Hope Police observed a blue Toyota northbound in the middle of the road on Pine Street, Port Hope, Ontario.  The vehicle was observed to be swerving all over the laneway. As a result, a traffic stop was conducted and the driver, was found to be impaired.  The driver , a 29-year-old male from Scarborough was charged with operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus). The accused will appear in court in late March to answer to the charges.

 

If you see an impaired driver call 911. Stay on the line with the communicator and give as much detail as you can, such as plate, description of driver if possible, and direction of travel. Stay on the line with the communicator until police arrive.  You may help save a life.
