Assault PHPS

Assault with Intent to Resist Arrest, and Assault a Peace Officer with a Weapon

 

A local Port Hope male has been charged with assault with intent to resist arrest, and assault a peace officer with a weapon.   Port Hope Police responded  to a fight in progress at 30 Ontario Street, Port Hope ON at around 10:46 pm, on Thursday night June 3, 2021.  As police attempted to arrest Tom Alger age 73,  with assault Alger pulled, and pushed the officer. away.  Alger continued to resist arrest, and grabbed a fixed blade knife that was hanging on the wall. As a result Alger was tasered by police.  Tom Alger was taken into custody and released later in the morning on an Appearance notice to appear in court on July 14, 2021 to answer to the charges.
