Shoplifting

A call  from the Loss Prevention officer at the Independent Grocers on Jocelyn Street,  Port Hope, Ontario led to the arrest of a Port Hope women for shoplifting on December 24, 2020. Port Hope Police attended the grocery store and placed Michelle Giordano under arrest for theft under $5000.00 dollars.  Giordano was released on an undertaking. Giordano will appear in court on January 27, 2021 to answer to the charge.  

Assault

A Cobourg women gets spit on while stopped at a stop sign at Toronto Road and Bruton Street, Port Hope Ontario. The victim had her passenger side window down when the accused, Jennifer Prevedel who was walking by, and for no reason turned and spit on the victim striking her in the face area.  The accused then began screaming and yelling . Port Hope Police were called and the victim's boyfriend pointed out the accused to police. After a short struggle Prevedel was arrested for the assault. Prevedel was escorted to the Port Hope Police Service where she was later released on an undertaking with conditions. She will appear in court on February 3, 2021. At this time Prevedel has not charged with resisting arrest.  The victim and the accused do not know each other and the attack was unprovoked.  

 

Mischief

 An ongoing neighbour dispute leads to a mischief charge. Port Hope Police had responded to multiple noise complaints at a Crossely drive area home in the last month. The accused, Chadda Harmeet had moved in approximately 30 days prior. Port Hope Police had received complaints of ongoing noise in the middle of the night. On December 23, 2020  Port Hope Police advised Chadda Harmeet not to contact the neighbour. On December 27, 2020 another noise complaint was reported at which time police were advised Harmeet was pounding on the front door and yelling at the neighbour. As a result Chadda Harmeet was arrested for mischief.  The accused will appear in court in February 2021 to answer to the charge.

 

With the Provincial lockdown in place Port Hope Police are encouraging everyone to stay home to help flatten the curve.
