Man charged with threatening

A 24 year old Bowmanville man is facing charges after Port Hope Police received information about a domestic incident involving allegations of threatening. Police commenced an investigation into the report and determined that on the 17th of August the man and the victim in this matter were involved in an argument after which the man threatened her and threaten to harm her pets.  The man was arrested later in the afternoon in Port Hope. He appears in court later in October. No names will be released in order to protect the identity of the victim.

Cruelty to animal

Port Hope Police are investigating an animal cruelty matter. On the 18th of August a resident in the Stanley Drive area reported her cat had been injured. The cat was roaming the neighbourhood and when it returned him the owner noted the cat’s paws were bloody. The owner took the cat to a veterinarian who confirmed the cat’s claws had been removed.  This is the second time this cat has returned home injured. Port Hope Police are asking for anyone who may have information in this matter to contact Port Hope Police at 905-885-8123 ext 142, email phps@phps.on.ca or contact crime stoppers.  The cat was treated and released to the owner.

Port Hope Police have charged a 24 year old Port Hope man with careless driving after a collision occurred in the westbound lane of Jocelyn St east of Payne Cr. On the 19 of August 2020 shortly before 9:30am the driver was driving his vehicle eastbound on Jocelyn Street when he drifted into the westbound lane and his vehicle collided head on with a Subaru.  Bother drivers were transported to Northumberland Hills Hospital and treated for their injuries.

Impaired by drug.

A 29 year old Port Hope woman is accused of being impaired by drug after Police responded to a traffic complaint. On the 23rd of August shortly after 1:00pm a citizen reported observing the woman driving a vehicle erratically. Police located the woman and the vehicle on Barrett Street and commenced an investigation into the driver’s state of sobriety after which she was arrested. Laura Smith is charged with impaired operation of a conveyance while impaired by drug or alcohol and 2 counts of possession of a controlled substance. She appears in court at the end of October.
