Media Release 6th May 2020

 

 

Theft of kayaks

Port Hope Police were called to a Cumberland Street residence after a report of two kayaks being stolen.  The theft is believed to have occurred over night 3rd/4th of May. The kayaks were contained in the back of a pickup truck.  They are described as 9 1/2 foot Perception, Red and had various stickers from traveling, with one of the stickers saying "I Love Virginia. Anyone with information is asked to call Port Hope Police at 905-885-8123 Ext. 142 or email phps@phps.on.ca or crime stoppers.

Theft of electric bike

On May 5th 2020 Port Hope Police responded to a call of a theft of a high end electric bicycle. The theft is believed to have occurred overnight 4th/5th of May. The e-bike was chained to the porch pillar of a Cavan Street residence. The chain was cut.  The bike is described as a black e-bike with 4' fat tires. The bike has “iGo in silver” written on the spine and is valued at $2500.00. Anyone with information is asked to call Port Hope Police at 905-885-8123 Ext. 142 or email phps@phps.on.ca or crime stoppers.

Port Hope Urban Bear Sightings 5th May 2020

A bear continues to roam in Urban Port Hope.  It was reported being seen on Jocelyn St. and Ravine Dr. 8:00pm and 10:00pm the 5th of May.  Police and MNRF are continuing to advise residents to remove attractants which includes not putting garbage out the night before garbage day as this is also a big attractant for bears. MNFR and Port Hope Police are continuing efforts to relocate the bear.  Any bear sightings residents are asked to call Port Hope Police 905-885-8123 and/or the MNRF toll free 1-866-514-2327.
