Bail Violations

A 20 year old Port Hope man is facing charges after being involved in a minor collision with a vehicle. The man was riding his bicycle in the Peacock Blvd/Sanders Drive area when he collided into the rear of a vehicle that was parked. The incident occurred on June 29th shortly after 6:00pm.  Port Hope Police were called to the scene. The man was investigated which revealed he was on a court order and had to abide by some conditions regarding intoxicating substances and maintaining an up dated address. He was found to be in breach of his release conditions and was subsequently arrested at the scene.

Cristian Mendez is charged with two counts of failing to comply with an officer in charge undertaking. He appears in court later in July.

Domestic Dispute leads to charges.

A 28 year old man is facing charges after Port Hope Police commenced an investigation into a domestic dispute. On the 30th of June in the evening hours the complainant attended the station to report an violent event that occurred in mid May 2019.  Investigation revealed the accused and the complainant were involved in an argument that became heated. The accused is alleged to have assaulted the victim by throwing her around the room they were arguing in. The accused was located and arrested and is facing a charge of assault. He appears in court in August. No names will be released.

Theft from vehicle.

A Port Hope man reported his wallet taken from a vehicle as it was left parked in the Memorial Park area on July 1st.  The wallet contained some cash and credit cards. It is believed the vehicle was left insecure. Police remind residents to lock vehicles when not in use.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered

On the 3rd of July Port Hope Police were called to the MTO lot on Toronto Road regarding a suspicious vehicle. The caller noted the vehicle had been there for a few days and it was parked irregularly with a few windows down. Police attended and confirmed the vehicle, a 2008 Nissan Rogue, was on file as stolen from the Ottawa area. The vehicle was towed to a secure facility. Ottawa Police were notified of the recovery.
